Conference Spiritual Enrichment Retreat at JUMC
JUMC hosted the NC Conference of United Methodist Women (UMW) with a record breaking 180 members attending from twelve districts. Our  Conference UMW President, Ann Davis, and the Sanford District President, Tanya Alvord were present.
     Mary W. made a beautiful banner depicting the theme, "In God's Mission We Are Sent Out To Carry..." JoAnn Stanford, Conference Spiritual Growth Coordinator led the sessions and meal gatherings. Patricia P., local UMW President and District Spiritual Growth Leader, welcomed the group in the Wesley Center that was decorated in yellow for this year's color. Vergie M., local Spiritual Growth Leader and Susanna Wesley Circle Leader, offered the blessing. She, along with a host of other women, prepared and served breakfast on Saturday morning. Evening meals, which were "clean-your-plate good," were catered by Bonnie and Chef Paul. Karen P. and Dwayne Williams lead inspiring and spirited music at each session. Rev. Linda Harris, Circuit Rider, Pastor of Cokesbury and Jenkins UM Churches and Lay Speaker's Program Director, made four presentations featuring women of the Bible during the two-day event. Our pastor, Rev. Hunter Preston, consecrated the elements and administered communion with assistance from four district spiritual growth leaders.
     We received many compliments about our hospitality and our beautiful facilities. Attendees were appreciative of directional signage and our "Walking Ambassadors," Charlotte A., Reinette S., Linda L., Barbara C., Jinger G., Norma S., Vergie, Jeanne L. and Patricia, who were always available to offer assistance. The over all evaluations of the conference registered A+'s.
     Much of the credit for success goes to prayers and preparation of the faithful for the event. Many of our church members stepped up to get our place ready. A GREAT BIG THANK YOU from the JUMW to all who claimed the event and made it happen to the glory of God. Amen
