Family Promise @ JUMC

Jonesboro UMC is among Lee County's Family Promise host churches. Family Promise of Lee County is part of the Interfaith Hospitality Network (IHN), a nationwide ministry that provides a way for churches and individuals to help homeless families.We are pleased to partner with Pocket Presbyterian Church, whose members help us care for the families.

Each host congregation provides overnight lodging and meals for three to five families (up to 14 people) for one week, every two or three months on a rotating basis. Network “guests” stay in each congregation from 6 pm to 7 am daily.

Our First Host Week - January 2012
JUMC's first week of hosting Family Promise guests was January 8-16. The families were a blessing to all of us, and the volunteers were awesome.
     A big thank you to all who helped to make the week a success, from the cooks in the kitchen to the set- up teams, to drivers to the overnight hosts each day. We truly appreciated the assistance of Pocket Presbyterian Church members who supported our evening activities as well.
     Our next hosting week is April 8-15, and all willing volunteers are needed. Please contact Richard G., Sue P. or Earlene R. if you have a heart for this wonderful outreach and are not on a Family Promise list!
